SERENGETI COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (SECDEP)

Serengeti District in Mwanza, Tanzania is one of the poorest districts in Tanzania, yet it is host to many resources, including the world famous Serengeti National Park, and Lake Victoria. It also hosts a wide range of natural sceneries such as Mwalimu Nyerere Museum and some natural tropical forest reserves. Through SECDEP, and in partnership with the KAMANI FAMILY FOUNDATION and technical advice from East African Ecotourism Development and Conservation Consulting (ECOCONSULT), the Serengeti Stop Over was built. The centre hosts an ecotourism site and a cultural centre. From the centre visitation is arranged by organized community groups to various thrilling spots. About 120 families participate in this programme.
